Dark Hinterlands

The Dark Hinterlands, also referred to as the 'DH' or the 'Hinterlands', is a region of space located on the edges of Federation space. Izar can be seen as the center of this region stretching more than 20 lightyears in each direction.

Story
The name was first introduced when several ships and officers from Starfleet were assigned to the region to maintain peace and stability.
The name was first mentioned in the Dark Armada episode "Worst Nightmare" by Lieutenant-Commander Celissia Katina.

Uniforms
Officers assigned to the DH have a slightly different style of uniforms. Officers part of this task force have experience in this region with the volatile situations that are present. Starfleet Officers not wearing this style of uniforms are not assigned to the DH and therefore have no authority in that region.
