A fan film (or series) is a film (or series) made by fans of a specific franchise. Most fan-produced media will follow the franchise's estabilished canon, and will create an extended setting which is based in a later time frame, or a parallel timeframe. Fan films can feature estabilished characters from the franchise (like New Voyages), create original characters (like Dark Armada) or create a comical parody on estabilished characters or events (like Star Wreck).
