Federation

The Federation was founded in 2161, by the Humans, Andorians, Tellarites and Vulcans. This was the very first attempt in known history to create an alliance between species which lasted until the present day. It came forth from the coalition of planets, founded by the same races.

overview

The Federation is a vast area of space, spanning up to 8000 lightyears in diameter. By 2273, hte Federation had 150 member worlds and thousands of colonies.

goals of the Federation

The goals of he federation are to respect lesser cultures, especially cultures which haven't developped warp-capability yet. Also they strive to exchange scientific knowledge, to boast trade and to have a common defense force.

defense force

The primary organ to take care of a common defense is starfleet, originating from the Humanfleet. Although Federation member worlds mostly construct and maintain their own fleets, their main defence force lies with Starfleet.
