This page will instruct you on how to add your own series to this wiki. We advise you to follow the entire process, so that you are sure you've added the series the properly. It is also advisable to keep this page open at all time. Open the wiki in a new window (or tab for non-IE users), and edit in that one.
Steps
There are four kinds of pages you can create:
- Series pages
- These give you general information on a series
- Episode pages
- Where more information about individual episodes can be given.
- Production group pages
- General information about the production team that makes the series.
- People pages
- ...and finally, pages about the individuals making the series.
This is the general procedure.
- Orientation. Know how to use the wiki the right way.
- Check whether your series is already mentioned.
- Add your series to the Add-listing.
- Add a page for the series.
- Add your production group.
- Update the categories.
- Add all episodes.
- Write/update the general information about the series.
- Write/update the general information about the production group.
- Write/update all episode information.
- Add all people.
- Write/update all people information.
- Update the Add-listing.
- Search for dead links.
Orientation
It is important that you know how to work with the wiki. Make sure you are logged in or else you won't be able to add or alter any content. After that, you must know how the wiki structure works. The best advise I can give you, is to read The Editors Guido at meta, the official documentation for this wiki. Since many wikiwikis are based on this structure (like wikipedia.org and memory-alpha.org), you will be able to profit from it for the rest of your life. If you are lazy, you can skip this step and continue with the following.

Does Your Series Already Exist?
Please use the search option in the side bar at the left to see if your series already exists in this wiki. If it does, study the current material and add to the existing material.
Adding A New Series To This Wiki
Add The Series To The Add-listing
Visit Categories:Added. If your series isn't on it yet, please edit and put it in the missing list.
Create A Page For The Series
Click on your series name in the Categories:Add-listening. First, add Template:Stub and Template:Series to this page, and add all required information on these templates. Then please save the page and continue to the next step, additional information will follow.
Add The Production Group
After saving, the production group might be in red. If so, click on it, and create a new page with Template:Stub and Template:ProductionGroups. Add all information asked by these templates and continue to the next step, additional information will follow.
Update The Categories
There are certain categories, which should be updated at this point:
- Categories:Country. Caution: if you are in the United States of America, please give the state.
- Categories:Timeline
- Categories:Popularity Add yourself to the bottom of this page.
- Categories:Series
Add All Episodes
Go back to the series page. In the right bar (made by the Series Template earlier), you see a listing of all episodes. For each episode:
- Click on the episode name.
- Create a new article.
- Add theses two templates and fill in all information asked of you:
TIP: Use copy-paste. This should save you a lot of time, because in many fan series, most of the crew stays the same.
Write/update The General Information About The Series
Now you've created all the pages on the wiki, it is time to update them. The first page discussed here is the general page about the series.
There are certain things you should add and things you should not add, because there are other pages for them. You must give a series summary. Tell people what the series is about! Only give general story lines here, put the details of each episode on the episode pages. This is the place to give the user an overview of the series: why is it popular, what are it's stong points and what are the things that could be better. Please keep your text objective. Give generally accepted opinions and back them up with links to critical reviews. Be balanced and show both sides of of an issue, for example if an episode is generally accepted as having bad acting you should also link to articles that might explain WHY the acting is bad.
Before saving, delete the stub status of the page.
Write/update The General Information About The Production Group
Go back to the page on the production group and add information about the production group. Who is working in it, what is their history, what might they do in the future. Maybe you've got some nice pictures...
After writing, delete the stub status of the page.
Write/update all Episode Information
Go to each episodes you've created in turn. Write a nice piece on each episode, at least a summary, and preferably some background information as well. I'll bet you know what to write.
Delete the stub status of each episode.
Add All The People
You can now go into detail about the people who are in volved in the series. Go back through all the pages you've just made about this series, and search for names that are not linked with a page yet. Click on the name and create a page. Add Template:Stub and Template:Person to the individual pages, and add all required information to these templates. Save each page and continue on to the next person.
HINT: If you can't find anything about the person, keep it a stub and mention it in the notes. RULE: Don't use artist names if possible. They're just an ordinary person like you or I. BEWARE: You might encounter people with the same name, who are not the same person. In this case, add a number to the persons name
If you've added a page for everyone who has contributed, go to the next step.
Write/update The People Information
Go back to each page you've created in the previous step, and add additional information about these people. What have they done in their lives, what is known about them. Only use information that can be found on the internet or with the permission of this person. Please remember to mention your sources - This is to guarantee privacy. Don't forget to delete the stub status.
Update The Add-listing
Go back to Categories:Added and move the title to the bottom.
Search For Dead Links
Skim all articles you've created for red links, there might be articles you forgot to make. Make these articles.
And Finally...
Tell your friends and everyone you know you've added a series to the Fan Film Wiki, and they can add their film projects by joining too. If it is not your film project, you might be just a fan, consider informing the production group who created it that you've added them here. They can use this listing as a background reference for new viewers!
