Starbase 514

This is a Federation starbase located in the Dark Hinterlands. It was mentioned in an episode from The Next Generation titled "Hero Worship" (2368).

Story
In 2381 the first starships were assigned to the DH to maintain peace and stability. Around 2381/2382 Starbase 514 was upgraded to be the Base of Operations in the Dark Hinterlands. Admiral Victoria Taylor took command of the starbase in 2382.
In 2389 the Starbase was attacked by an unknown enemy, Taylor eventually initiated the self-destruct sequence. ("Nightfall")
Location
Starbase 514 is located in the T'Kola star system in orbit around T'Kola III. The T'Kola star is one of the closest stars to Izar.
Layout
Starbase 514 is the biggest station in the Dark Hinterlands. The only other station is Deep Space 3, located on the edge of the DH. 514 was refitted in 2381/2382 with the latest defensive and offensive systems and is fully capable of defending itself against a small fleet. The starbase can have several starships docked to it at once.
