Story in short(concept)

I was thinking about showing the origins of the Borg, but instead of showing the Borg itself I want to have a new race of people who are experimenting with similar technology. In a way making a second Borg civilization, just slightly different. For their ships they think a collective mind will boost efficiency, so they create that collective where the crew can just log in and out (something like the Internet of today). At a certain point they collectively decide that their technology can better the universe and they start showing the same behaviour as the Borg we know. The crew will get addicted to the collective and start connecting more and more people. I also want this to be a link to Internet addiction, losing your own identity and how big 'collectives' think they have to better the world by their own standards.

In this episode the crew of the U.S.S. Batavia will get involved in all this, where some of the crew wants to link up with this starting collective that seems harmless at first. But once they can't seem/want to get out, a telepathic crewmember tries to break them free by getting into their minds and that's where there will be a struggle between the collective and the telepathic.
